My Grandparents could use your prayers.

This is a super-personal post but since my blog is where I share so much of who I am, I felt there was no better place to share what follows.I am have been blessed in this life by so many things. But at the tippy-top of that list is the fact that I was raised by a family that loves Jesus and did everything they could to put him first and teach me to do the same. I have to give the credit to God for that. But I also recognize that it was as a result of the love and nurture from my grandparents that the legacy of Faith was established.Well in the past year the health and mental state of both of my grandparents has quickly declined. As of now, Grandma is in palliative care with second stage dimensia and congestive heart failure and Grandpa is holding up pretty well after colon cancer and a stroke. However, yesterday he suffered a string of major heart attacks and the doctor says he is too ill to operate. That's why my family needs your prayers. Please pray for comfort from the physical pain they are experiencing. Pray that they will have a peace and sense that they are in the arms of Jesus during this time. Ask that God would give courage and comfort to my Dad and his siblings as they watch their parents go through this.On my last trip to Nashville, Melissa (my sister) and I hopped in the car and drove up to Seymour Indiana to visit my grandparents. I was given several warnings that Grandma may not recognize me and that I shouldn't get my hopes up. On the way up I asked God to give Grandma enough energy and awareness to know that I was there so I could tell her how much I loved her. When we walked in the room where she was eating her dinner, she saw me from across the room and smiled. She opened up her arms as wide as she could and said "Jessie" as I gently hugged her. She is the only person to call me that and she always as. She began telling me how much she loved and missed me and she even asked me how "David" was doing. It was such a sweet and special time for me. We said a brief hello to Grandpa and then headed out since we know it was getting late for them. The next day was my 27th birthday and we had a great breakfast at my aunts before heading back over to the nursing home. I tried not to get my hopes up about the state of mind my grandparents because I knew the night before was a special gift. Well when we got there, Grandma was just as happy to see us! We wheeled her down to Grandpa's room and the four of us shared in stories, jokes and laughter. Those memories will forever be treasured in my heart.I didn't want to intimidate them with my camera but I did manage to capture a few moments and even some video. I told them it was for Dave since he couldn't be there. It's a few moments long but they are both lucid and it portrays their personalities. Grandpa even gives out some marriage advice since they've been married 60+ years. So here are a few of my favorite images and the video clip.

Here is Grandma with Melissa. I love their expressions.

The photo on the top left is when my Grandpa was in the Navy and the one on the right was taken on their wedding day.
